What is the difference between quartz and fireclay?
There are various materials used to make kitchen sinks, especially when looking for something outside of typical stainless steel. “Quartz” or “Titan quartz” sinks are made of plastic composites, not natural materials. These composites easily burn, stain and scratch when exposed to everyday use; creating the perfect environment for bacteria to accumulate. With time, the result is an unsightly and unsanitary kitchen sink. Fireclay sinks on the other hand, are handmade using natural raw clay. The fabrication process involves molding a sink to desired size, to be then placed in a kiln for it to be fired at temperatures as high as 2000° F, then cooled down. Once cooled down, special finishes are applied, followed by a final layer of glaze, which also receives the firing/cooling process. This creates not only a durable and resistant sink; but it also gives it a smooth, clean finish.
Why do I need a specific basket strainer or disposal flange for my fireclay sink?
Some fireclay sink models, such as the WHFLCON3018, have a thicker base that uses a longer screw, requiring a larger basket strainer and disposal flange for proper fit.
How can I install my fireclay sink?
Fireclay sinks can be installed in different ways, the most common type of installation being the undermount, with an exposed front apron. Depending on personal preferences, the front apron can be either flush with the cabinets or slightly butted outward. Countertops can also be either flush with the edges of the sink or overlapping them. Another installation option is a standard undermount without exposing the front apron, for a clean look. The above mount installation is where the sink rests on top of the counter.
Are there installation instructions for installing a fireclay sink?
No. Because of the various installation choices and methods used by builders, contractors or installers, we do not provide specific installation instructions for fireclay sinks.
Are there any other accessories that are recommended when purchasing my fireclay sink?
Because Whitehaus Collection® fireclay sinks are heavy, (depending on sink size, weight can range up to 100 lbs), therefore having the proper support is important. Whitehaus Collection® offers a set of undermount sink support bars (WHUMSB) that makes the fireclay sinks installation process easy and efficient.
We also recommend a sink grid. Whitehaus Collection® offers custom-made sink grids as an additional protection measure, as they prevent any pots, pans, plates, etc., from hitting or touching the bottom of the sink.
Is my Whitehaus fireclay sink handmade?
Yes. All Whitehaus Collection® Fireclay kitchen sinks are individually handmade. Sink sizes can vary, and dimensions are approximate. We strongly recommend that your sink be supplied to your cabinetmaker prior to the fabrication of your cabinets and countertops. Cutouts are not to be made until they are checked against your sink.
I want to install a garbage disposal on my fireclay sink. Will this cause an issue with the integrity of the sink?
It is important to know that not all garbage disposals are suitable to be used with Whitehaus Collection® fireclay sinks, including a three-bolt pattern garbage disposal. If garbage disposal is not properly installed, i.e. overtightened or not leveled; it may lead to possible stress on the sink. If you are looking to install a garbage disposal, we recommend you install a properly tested garbage disposal for fireclay sink with a snap on installation, such as our Cyclonehaus (WH007) model with extended flange (WH007EXT).
Do you have color sample chips/swatches of your other colors for fireclay sinks?
Yes. We do have sample chips/swatches of all available finishes for fireclay sinks. If you are interested in receiving a color sample to physically compare the look and feel of our product to your environment, you may reach out directly and request the specific finish you are interested on.

United StatesThe packaging was a little crazy - the molding foam exploded out of the plastic, so we literally had to chip it all away to get the sink out of the container. But the sink arrived in perfect condition, so no complaints. I did not install it with the bib sticking out, but I like that it is versatile. You can install it either way.
United StatesI was so excited when I got through all the foam and got someone bigger than me to pull this thing out. Its heavy, and definitely a beauty. The bottom is thicker than a normal sink so if you are using a garbage disposal with it, you must get an extended ******. Which come to find out is expensive. Love that it comes forward more than a regular sink so I get more room around the faucet. I also would like to add this is a super tall sink so make sure your cabinet can handle it, and be sure to get some bracing in there. Love it.
United StatesI’ve had it for over a year and while it does require some care and regular cleaning, it’s held up very well. Wish there was a better white grate for the bottom.
